  1. First thought (after exclaiming "Ah!") -- "The Jewel in the Crown". Or alternatively, "the jewel is the crown" (if you take the older meaning of "crown" as "head". But clearly I'm getting nowhere with these titles, so will just say what a heady composition that cabbage makes, thus framed. Love it.

  2. First thought: funky coaster
Second thought: nah, I think it's bigger... funky trivet
Third thought: bloody hell, is that a cabbage???
Fourth thought: that is some good shootin'
Fifth thought: it would make a pretty funky coaster

  3. Purple cabbage cut crosswise? Love the colours and textures against the light wooden board. Great composition. Great eye!

  4. Gorgeous photo as usual. You have such a sense of the beauty, grace and excitement of everyday things - your carwash photo being another example.

Interesting facts about cabbage from Wikipedia:

The juice of red cabbage can be used as a home-made pH indicator, turning red in acid and green/yellow in basic solutions.

On cooking, red cabbage will normally turn blue. To retain the red colour it is necessary to add vinegar or acidic fruit to the pot.

Red cabbage is a better keeper than its "white" relatives and does not need to be converted to sauerkraut to last the winter.

In high doses (5g/kg), raw red cabbage induces ataxia in canines, most notably in terriers, pugs, and beagles.

But what I really want to know is why is it called "red" when it is purple Or why did this come up when I googled "purple cabbage"?
